Esther M. Holland, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020. Esther was a native of Lake City, Florida and moved to the Westside of Jacksonville from Lake City, FL with her Husband Waldo. She retired from Anchor Glass in Jacksonville where she had worked for over 30 years. Esther loved gardening, making her yard beautiful, the Atlanta Braves and she loved her grandchildren more than life itself. She loved her family very deeply and was extremely devoted to them. She was a devoted mother, Wife and homemaker. Esther would work long swing shifts and come home the next day and still find time for her husband, her grandchildren and her family. She spoiled her grandchildren rotten. She loved collecting dolls, coffee cups from her travels, and antiques. She enjoyed spending time later in life after retirement working in her well manicured yard and traveling with Waldo, her late Husband.
Esther was preceded in death by her Husband Waldo B. Holland, her sister Pete Moore, and her parents Clyde and Edna Hurst. Esther met her late Husband Waldo in church in Lake City, FL. She is also survived by her sons; Waldo B. Holland, Jr. (Jack Skurka) and Robert E. Holland, Daughter in Law Rita Holland, her grandchildren; Sheena Holland Rickerson (Tony), Joshua Holland and Jordan Holland (Macy), great grandchildren Annalee Rickerson and Wyatt Rickerson and a large loving extended family.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 am in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 800 Hammond Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221. The family will receive friends at FRASER FUNERAL HOME, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL (781-4314) from 6:00 – 8:00pm this Thursday.
