Reverend John D. Allen, 78, the only son of Otis and Bonnie Allen, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 23, 1942. A true man of God, he was called home on May 27, 2020.
Reverend Allen, grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where he met and married his true love, Mrs. Sylvia (Studivant) Allen on March 27 1964. During their 56 years of marriage, they welcomed their two sons, Thomas David (Kimberly Trelly) and John Timothy (Donna). His greatest joy in life were his grandchildren, Hallie Jackson (Billy) and his Great Grandchild, Tinsley Grace of St. Louis, MO, Alexis French (Ryan) of Kingwood, WV, Garrett Allen of Jacksonville, Chelsea Allen and Caleb Allen of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by his Sisters, Nancy Justice of Jacksonville FL and Faye Burton (Gary) of Houston TX, his Sister in Law Audrey Carpenter of Wichita, KS, his brother in law, Daniel Studivant (Veronica) of Baldwin, FL along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Otis and Bonnie, His sister Mary Rollins, and his grand daughters Hannah Mae and Whitney Michelle.
He entered the ministry with the United Pentecostal Church in the 80’s. His love for Jesus shined through his bright blue eyes and miraculous smile. He could not meet a stranger and always had a laugh to share.
After leaving the Jacksonville Shipyards, he spent many years evangelizing across the country and held pastoral positions in churches in Virginia, West Virginia and Florida. He later retired from Wilson Trucking Company in Jacksonville, Florida.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Jacksonville, 11697 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville Florida, 32221. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00am – 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
