Giacomo “Jack” Lucente, 85, passed away August 19, 2020 from complications of congestive heart failure. Giacomo “Jack” was a native of Little Italy, Harlem, New York, New York. He moved to Jacksonville, FL, Cecil Field after enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Coral Sea, VF103. He owned and operated Lucente Refrigeration Company, Heating/Airconditioning while serving 26 years in The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Troop G. He served the State of Florida as a Volunteer/Auxiliary State Trooper for 26 years. After exhaustive training that includes firearms, high liability, first responder, vehicle operations and basic law enforcement accreditation, he provided an additional set of eyes and ears riding in the right front seat with a full-time Trooper. Additionally Auxiliary State Troopers provide LSP or Limited Scope Patrol. In those instances, Auxiliary Troopers are authorized for solo patrol in a marked FHP unit. Patrolling the interstate they would check on disabled motorists, people who may be walking on the shoulder of the roadway and traffic diversion assistance during crash investigations. Auxiliary members assist the Patrol with traffic control during dignitary motorcade precessions and State emergencies such as Hurricanes or evacuations. Members also staff and assist with educational awareness opportunities that are geared to inform the public. Jack was baptized and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on May 25th 2008, on the same day as his marriage to Lee Joan Lucente. “New Life, New Wife, New Life in Christ.”
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 40 years, Sadie Elizabeth Lucente, his 2nd wife, of nine years, Elsie Cortez Lucente, his brothers; Joseph Giacomo Lucente and Nicholas Richard Lucente and a nephew, Joseph Gallazzi. He is survived by his wife of 12 Years, Lee Joan Lucente, a sister, Sunday Gallazzi. He is also survived by is grandchildren, Connie Youssef (Tom), Kelly Jo Fortier (Tom) and Danny Williams., His nephews, Carmine Gallazzi Jr. (Renee), Richard Lucente (Lee Anne), Nicholas Joseph Lucente (Mary), Ronnie Fore (Pam) and Richard Brian Lucente (Janet) a niece, Carol Greiner (Steve) and a great niece, Leandra Gallazzi. In addition, he has 10 other great and great grand nieces and nephews. He also has daughters by adoption of the heart, Mary Pendergrass, Kindsey Kirkland Hughes, Jacqualynn Knight and Delanie Corbett. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11:00am in Westside Baptist Church, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL 32210 with Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating. (Open to the public with social distancing) followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery with US Navy Honors. (By invitation only due to COVID Restrictions at the National Cemetery).
