On Monday night, July 26, 2021, my dear sweet Mama, Betty Joyce Scaff Coleman, age 90, fell asleep and woke up in Heaven with Jesus and loved ones who were waiting for her with open arms.
She was born on September 21, 1930, in Lake Butler, Florida, to parents, John W. Scaff and Elizabeth Belle Scaff. Her father was a veteran, long-time schoolteacher and principal. Her mother was a homemaker. She had one brother, Fabian Scaff, who, along with her parents, preceded her in death. She was only 16 years old when she completed 12th grade at Union County High School, Class of 1947. Soon after graduation, she moved to Jacksonville, where she met her future husband and my father, Arthur G. Coleman, who, in 1976, also preceded her in death.
Betty and Art had only one child, Charles Wayne Coleman, who spent the last 6 years living with and taking care of his mother, joyously spoiling her the same way she spoiled him as a child. It was the most rewarding and precious time of my life!
