Charles Louis Dorsey, 86, my beloved brother passed on August 12 in Jacksonville after a long debilitating illness. He was born to L.P. and Estelle Stamper Dorsey (both deceased) on January 31, 1935 in Live Oak, Florida. He was a Christian from a very young age. His favorite Bible passage was Psalms 23.

He enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 serving from 1952-54 on the U.S.S. Rochester on two cruises to the Far East and Korean War Zone. After discharge in 1956, he worked for the Pentagon, Delta Airlines and Seaboard Railroad before he was of age to join the Old Duval County Road Patrol in 1960. He became a patrolman with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office after consolidation. He served 33 years retiring in 1994 as a Detective Sergeant in Forgery. Charles was a devoted caretaker of his Mother prior to her death in August 2004.

He was a member of the FAPH (Florida Association of Professional Hypnosis) and the NFCA (North Florida Corvette Association). He was an avid fan of the Brumos Racing Team. All three groups involved traveling all over the United States and Mexico. For several years he purchased the first new Corvette in Jacksonville the last one in 1972. He was a collector of memorabilia (Lots) from all his travels. Charles had a quick wit with a quiet personality. He has made many friends over his journey.
