Arthur David Truax

September 04, 1956~September 19, 2021

Arthur David Truax, 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2021.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Mary Truax.

Arthur is survived by his daughters, Rachel (Donald), Candace, Esther, Christal (Kevin), Caroline, and son David, his sister Sharon (David), brothers Daniel (Evelyn) and Doug (Sheila), 10 loving grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Arthur was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone. He loved people and his mission was always to lead them to Jesus.

Arthur was born in Greenville, SC and attended Tabernacle Christian School, where he was quite the heartthrob! He played basketball and other sports and was really good at them! He went to college at Tennessee Temple University, where he met the mother of his six children. During his time at Tennessee Temple, after a conversation with his father and a friend, he felt that God was calling him to Africa to be a missionary and church planter. After going to Bible college at Tabernacle, he served with his family on the mission field for 13 years. They planted several churches and many people heard the good news of Jesus Christ as a result. Those churches still stand today and continue to share the gospel to the African people. For the last 23 years, he has focused his ministry work on his children, grandchildren, his bus ministry at his beloved church( Trinity Baptist), teaching fifth grade boys, most recently an adult class, and on the students and co-workers at his job, driving a school bus. He loved people and always wanted to help them learn to use their gifts for God.

Recently, the Lord allowed him to travel back to Africa to visit the churches that he had started. He loved the African people so much. When he returned home, he said it was the most enjoyable 16 days of his life, to be back with the people who had continued to carry on the mission of sharing the gospel. He was so proud of them.

Arthur loved to sing, preferring old hymns and Southern gospel! He loved to harmonize with other singers and had a deep bellowing voice that was hard not to join with in singing. He liked to be silly, especially with his son and his grandchildren. He woke up early every morning to read his bible and pray for his children. He always had time for his children, and told them he loved them and was proud of them every chance he got. He loved to hang out with his best friend, Mike. One day, while they were together praying for their children in Gethsemane Memorial Garden, a man needed help with his broken down car. Together they led this man to the Lord that day. Arthur’s body will be buried in this place where they would go to pray.”

Memorial services for Arthur will be held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church 800 Hammond Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Garden at the same address. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be David Truax, Donald Blanchard, Kevin Pruiett, Doug Truax, Mike Barnett, John Stilianou, Gavin Daniels and Connor Daniels.

a meal will be served in the Common Dining Hall- Building D, following the burial.

Artie, It is difficult to accept that so many of us will miss your clear, distinct, encouraging voice on this earth. You certainly added color and encouragement to a world with so much bleakness. I am so glad that we got to talk on three occasions just about five weeks ago. Your family’s love for you and yours for them inspired many of us. I so enjoyed your visits to Tabernacle when you would see Randy Looper and your high school classmates, and you would post comments and pictures. Your testimony will inspire many to walk closer to God. Well done, faithful servant!! Love you, David
