Vancie “Glenn” Baker
September 10, 1946 – October 23, 2021
A loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend completed his journey on this earth on October 23, 2021. Glenn was born on September 10, 1946 in Live Oak, Fl. He grew up working on the family farm until he left Live Oak in 1963 to join the U.S. Coast Guard. He served his country with honor from 1963 – 1967. For his service he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal.
After his service, Glenn was self employed for most of his adult life. He owned a delivery service and then a pool construction company. He enjoyed his time working in the pro shop at Ramona Lanes (Jax lanes) in the evenings, coaching children in bowling and softball.
Glenn always put his family and others before himself. He had an infectious personality, loved life and making others smile. He spread joy everywhere he went. He will be missed and forever loved
He was preceded in death by His father Fred Baker, mother Ann Altman, and brother Leroy Baker. He is survived by his wife Geraldine, sister Linda (Ted), brother Robert (Mattie), sister Diana (Jay). His children: Vincent (Angie) of Havelock, NC., Daughter Tammy Lovett, Son Lee (Kathy) and his granchildren Victoria, Brittany, Ashley, Amanda , Crystal, & Glenn Baker Jr. Along with all the numerous lives impacted over the years.
