CHAPMAN, Joel Carl, 70, passed away October 29, 2021. Born in Norfolk, VA, the son of William Carl Chapman and Loretta Leola Williams Chapman, Joel was a resident of Jacksonville for most of his life.

Joel retired from Florida Steel after 30 years as a master crane operator in Baldwin, FL and continued his lifelong mission of helping friends and family members with projects and odd jobs. He was the one everyone called for help.

He was an avid fisherman, loved boating, kayaking, camping and was a grilling aficionado, recently conquering the Blackstone grill. He enjoyed having friends and family over and giving them his tips on using any one of his countless smokers and other grills.

Joel was pre-deceased by his parents, William Carl Chapman and Loretta Leola Williams Chapman and his brother, W. Keith Chapman.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Chapman brother David (Keitha) Chapman; nieces Wendy (George) Rasmussen, Crystal Chapman, Audrey (Michael) Adams; nephews Billy Chapman and Jake Simmons and great-niece Macy Teston.

His life was also made complete being an honorary uncle to Dane (Britney) Jensen and Beth (Brian) Miller.

Joel is also survived by his Golfing buddies, Steve Hayes and Richard Saleeby, fishing buddy, Don Herrington, and his texting and ‘friendly wagering’ buddy, Carlton (aka Bubba) Byars.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
