Fernando Torres, a Knighthood Degree member of Father Maher Council 648 and Patriotic Degree member of Ponce de Leon assembly 152 passed away on Monday, August 15th, 2022 at Orange Park Hospital at the age of 80. A truly self-made man, Fernando was known for his selfless love of his fellow man, which he shared on many occasions with anyone he met, and his devotion to his family and Catholic Church. His greatest attribute was his servant heart which he exercised through his faith in Jesus Christ. He retired from the New Jersey School System after 30+ years when he and his late wife Maria moved to Florida.
The Viewing will be on Sunday, August 21st, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Fraser Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, August 22nd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. His cremains will be inurned next to his late wife Maria Teresa Torres at Jacksonville Memory Gardens at a later date.
Fernando was a father of four children, Fernando Torres, Jr. (Kim), Mildred Torres-Lusco (Jerry), Myrna Torres, and Carmen Torres; grandfather of 11, great-grandfather of 1, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by a sister: Saturina, a brother: Felipe, and his second wife: Luz Stella Cobaleda. Fernando was proceeded in his death by his first wife, Maria Teresa Torres after 52 years of marriage and 10 brothers.
