Adelaide “Gayle” Jones, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully in Smyrna, Tennessee on Sept. 5, 2022. She married James “Roger” Jones on February 10, 1962. They lived in North Carolina until 1973 when they moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Gayle was an active member in Westside Baptist church since 1986. She loved working in the nursery taking care of the newborn babies. Gayle loved working, she returned to work after her children were all in school. She retired from Citibank in October of 2014. Gayle was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved traveling, from beaches to the mountains. Gayle loved music of all types, often playing Christmas music anytime of the year. She would help anyone who crossed her path.

Her children fondly remember her as persistent, having a wonderful sense of humor, her soft and gentle hands, her petiteness that was no reflection of her ability to protect those close to her. Her children think of her as a true steel magnolia; a truly classy lady. She always dressed her best for any occasion. She was rarely a follower, often leading the way for others. She spent her last few years in the beautiful state of Tennessee, breathing the beautiful mountain air and being adored by all.

Gayle was predeceased by her parents, and her adoring husband, James Roger for 56 years until his death in 2018. Gail was a dear friend. I could share my closest thoughts and she would come back with some kind of silly answer and lighten the load. I loved her quirky sense of humor. We had some great times together. One more friend has slipped out into eternity. Heaven gets sweeter all the time. Rest In Peace my sweet friend. Jo Ann Bishop
