On May 20,2023 Neal C. Hewitt, 73 was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven by his Lord and Savior.
Neal was born on August 3, 1949 in Key West, Fl to Robert and Bessie Jane (Park) Hewitt.
After high school Neal joined the U.S. Navy as a cryptologic technician and served in the Vietnam War. He retired after serving proudly for 22 years with the rank of Petty Officer First Class.
While in the Navy he met the love of his life, Mary.
Neal and Mary wed on July 4, 1970 and spent nearly 49 wonderful years together.
Neal was a Christian of Catholic faith, attending Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Jacksonville and volunteered in the parish alongside his wife for over 25 years.
Neal was also a member of The Knights of Columbus.
In his free time Neal was a golf enthusiast for many years. He also enjoyed traveling and going to Disney World with his wife and grandchildren.
Neal was preceded in death by his Mother, Bessie Jane and Father, Robert. Also, by his loving wife, Mary.
He is survived by his younger brother, James (Barbara) Hewitt of Oswego, NY. Four sons, Sean (Tracy) Hewitt of New Jersey; Kevin Hewitt of Jacksonville, Fl; Kent (Kelly) Hewitt of Jacksonville, Fl; Adam Hewitt of Jacksonville, Fl.
Neal also leaves behind 7 of his greatest joys, his grandchildren; Anastasia, Melany, Noah, Elijah, Tatum, Luci and Hailey.
Celebration of life plans are forthcoming, but will include full military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

My prayerful sympathies on your dad’s death. Such a good man and, along with your beloved mom, they were so supportive of me during my time as pastor of Most Holy Redeemer.
