Velma Grace Weeks

May 05, 1927—April 10, 2023

Velma Grace Weeks passed away peacefully, Monday, April 10, 2023. She was 95 years old. She was a loving wife, mother and granny as well as a longtime, faithful member of Old Plank Baptist Church.

Velma was born in Brooksville, Florida on May 05, 1927 and was raised in Moultree, Georgia. Her father and some of her family were sharecroppers and moved around. She ended up in Jacksonville, Florida where she lived most of her adult life and raised her family.

Velma liked to keep busy working with her hands, always tinkering and fixing things. She enjoyed plants and flowers and always kept her yard pretty. She loved music and playing her guitar with her family and friends, as well as bowling. She was a loyal friend to many and a faithful servant to the Lord. She would help in any way she could. Family was Velma’s greatest joy aside from the Lord.

She was previously employed by Kinco Windows on the assembly line and at NAS Naval Air Station.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Weeks, her parents, Arthur and Eva Wynn, her daughter, Karen Green, three brothers, Carlton, James “Buck” and Johnny Wynn and three sisters, Estelle Wynn, Helen Wynn and Geneva Maddox.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Weeks (Pam), grandchildren, Kyle, Corbin, Wyatt, Annabelle and Melanie, her brother Theron “TB”, her sister, Alice Rountree and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Velma’s name to First Baptist Church of Maxville Children’s Ministry Improvements Fund.

Services to be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, April 17, 2023 at Old Plank Baptist Church with visitation/viewing at 12:00 PM. Private family visitation/viewing at 11:00 AM.

Dinner will be provided after burial at First Baptist Church of Maxville, 8635 Maxville Blvd., Jacksonville, FL. 32234
