Calvin Curtis Smith, Sr. age 59, passed away May 30, 2023. Calvin was born on July 13, 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida Calvin was a hardworking man all his life. He installed Carpet, Vinyl and VCT flooring in his childhood. He is responsible for getting many people into the flooring business.
His passion was to help those less fortunate, even when he had nothing himself. He enjoyed coaching youth football, Gator and Jaguar football. He liked to make people laugh and was always a kid at heart. He always had faith in God and was a member of Yulee Baptist Church and Old Plank Road Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard McDowell and his mother, Elizabeth McDowell.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Vern and Ruth Wilson, his sons; Calvin C. Smith Jr. (Rebecca Chewing), Spencer Eugene Smith and Jeremy Lee Smith, is niece, Krystal Waters (Billy Wrenn) whom he considered his daughter. He is also survived by his brothers, Keith Bretz (Diana), Edward Bretz and Matt Wilson; and his sisters; Marguerite McDowell, Heather Jenson and April Wilson. He is survived by his grandchildren, BreAnna Smith, Makayla Smith, Rori Smith, Chloe Smith, Lainey Smith, Bella Smith, Dalton Smith. Jack Smith, J.J> Smith. Zeki Smith and Chase Hicox and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Graveside service will be held, Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00pm in Gethsemane Memorial gardens, 800 Hammond Blvd., Jacksonville, Fl 32221 with Rev. Larry McGinley officiating.
