It is with great sadness that we announce Cecil Richard Cornatzer passed away on April 3, 2021 with family by his side, but are pleased that he has finally been reunited with his loving wife, Jacqueline Cornatzer.
Cecil Cornatzer, more commonly known as Richard C. Cornatzer, was born on May 1st, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida to William Hosea Cornatzer and Rose Mae Sanders. Richard will be lovingly remembered by his family for his interesting but lengthy stories. He took pride in being number one in the nation as a manager at Lerner’s for 16 years. He was a veteran of the United States Airforce, serving in the Korean war. He will also be remembered for his ability to make those around him feel as loved and welcomed as family.
He is survived by: brother Gene Cornatzer (Jenny); sons: Richard Cornatzer (Billiejean), David Cornatzer (Vanessa), and Derek Lerner (Annie); 5 grandchildren: Ashley Porter (Jason), Shawn Cornatzer, Mara Baxley, Angel Brooks, and Abigail Brooks; and 3 great-grandchildren, Addison Porter, Avery Porter, and Ella Porter. He is preceeded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Lee Cornatzer, his mother Rose Cornatzer, his father William Cornatzer, and his sister, Faith Cornatzer.
Richard’s interment will be held Jacksonville National Cemetery on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Humane Society of the United States, Wounded Warrior Project, or any worthy charity in his memory.
