Dale had both an adventurous and servant heart. He first served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, of which he was immensely proud. He served in the Florida Forrest Service as a forest ranger. His true career calling was in Law Enforcement, where he served in Jacksonville for many years, as well as Orange County Florida, and retired from Clay County Sheriffs Office. He had many other jobs in between as he would get burned out from law enforcement and tried his hand at many other jobs. He always came back to law enforcement as it was his passion.
Dale never once, to his children’s knowledge, said no to anyone that came to him for help. His heart was to help anyone he could at any time. Being in law enforcement also gave him opportunity to witness, bring folks to church, and to try and get as many people saved as he could. The number of seeds he planted in people’s lives would be many. He was quick to protect others from any kind of danger he felt might be imminent. His heart was truly in line with “To protect and serve”.
Dale’s final servitude was being involved in the ministry. He loved to preach God’s word as often as he could and serving in church in any capacity he was able. He truly loved people. He delivered cookies to the homes of those who had visited church.
Dale enjoyed being in nature. He loved the beach as well as the mountains. When God decided to call Dale home, he chose the most beautiful and colorful scenery, along the banks of the Ohio River. The sun was shining brightly, the trees decked out in their best fall colors, the birds were singing, the squirrels were scampering about, and temperatures were perfect. All his children and special lady love were able to surround him in his final moments. God allowed time for some of his family that he loved so much to drive the long distance and see and hug him one more time.
Dale loved his family and greatly enjoyed time spent with the grands and great grands. He loved all his nieces and nephews, and all “forty eleven” cousins. He loved people, his church, and God. No man tried harder to be a good and honest man.
