Deborah Ann Arnold, age 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020. She was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia to Marion and Ann (Blanchard) Pike and was the oldest of six children. Deborah attended the Virginia School for the Deaf (VSD) in Staunton, VA where she was a cheerleader, member of the drama club, and an honor student. It was in elementary school at VSD that she met her future husband, Ed. After high school, she attended a local Business School and graduated with a Secretarial Certificate which led to employment with the Army in Norfolk, VA. Deborah’s passion, though, was working with children and signing songs. She often volunteered to teach at youth camp and in the children’s Sunday school department. Deborah also enjoyed signing songs in church. Deborah and Ed married in 1976 and celebrated 44 years of marriage this past June. Later in life, Deborah was a homemaker, who enjoyed creating and decorating beautiful spaces. She enjoyed hosting people in her home until her health limited her ability to do so. Deborah loved fashion and believed every outfit should have a matching necklace. She also was thankful for the precious friendships with classmates at VSD and church friends in Virginia and Florida. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Ann Pike, her brother Larry Pike, and her sister Terry Price. She is survived by her husband, Ed Arnold; daughters Dawn (Chris) Kesting and Amy (Stephen) Haney; grandchildren Braya, Hailey, Joel, Krista, and Micah; sisters Phyllis Parker and Cathy (Rod) Calhoun; brother Billy Pike; sisters-in-law Connie (Cary) Holland, Laura (John) Stull, Tidy (Buddy) Turnage, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved. The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church 800 Hammond Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32221. The graveside service will immediately follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service, at 10:00 a.m. Pastors Steve Houghton and Tom Messer will be officiating. A lunch reception in the Dining Commons will follow the graveside service. The family requests that cheerful colors be worn to the memorial service. They also request face masks to be worn when social distancing is not possible
