Edwin Capps

June 07, 1946~June 16, 2021

Wednesday June the 16th, 2021 Edwin Capps went to be with the Lord. This July the 7th, Ed would have celebrated his 75th year brightening this world with his bold spirit. Born in Jacksonville, FL to Joe & Doris Capps, Edwin is preceded in death by both parents, and his brother Wayman Capps. Survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Stacey Capps and beloved children, April (Jason), JoAnn (Clint), Joe, and Lindsey, granddaughter Savannah, older brother Haywood Capps, and baby sister Deborah Capps-Neugent. As well as a lengthy list of nieces and nephews and countless extended family & friends, who Ed always welcomed into his huge heart as family.

After his childhood in McAlpin, Florida – Edwin joined the Coast Guard which inspired his Aeronautical Engineering Degree obtained from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida. Ed proudly joined McDonald Douglas, in St Louis as their youngest Technical Rep for Fighter Jets, was a top producing Salesman many years with Unijax, before opening Powerline Sand with brother Wayman. Edwin often spoke on his past career experiences, proudly claiming he never held a job he did not love. Over the past 15 years, Ed did tell many the greatest joy of his lifelong success in entrepreneurship was working each day with his family Stacey, April, and JoAnn. Capps Land Management grew into a successful, respected Heavy Civil Contracting Company and watching his girls take the business into the next level, was one of his most rewarding joys.

Most important to Ed was the strength of his family, he build lifelong memories on Elbow Cay, in the Abacos. The Capps Family returned to this cherished location for many years least every year with his family and friends. These trips were never forgotten, and often remembered as wonderful trips by all who were blessed to attend. Ed’s most important lesson was Family, he always wanted to insure everyone knew they were always welcome at home.
