Ernestine Davis Carter, 91, of Alma, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on
Monday, February 7, 2022. She was born in Alma, Georgia on November 3, 1930, to William M.
Davis, Sr. and Maude Jones Davis.

In the early 1940s she moved to Jacksonville, FL with her family. In 1946 she married Vasco (Scoby)
Carter. They were married 43 years and share two children. While in Jacksonville, she was a longtime,
active member of West Park Baptist Church, where she made many close friends and grew deeply in
her walk with the Lord. She worked for Revlon, Inc. for many years before retiring. In her retirement
years, she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, working on puzzles, and most of all, spending time with her
family. In 2015 she returned to Alma, Ga., where she has deep family roots. She is a current member
of Ten Mile Baptist Church of Alma, Ga.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, William M. Davis, Sr. and Maude Jones Davis
Sullivan; husband, Vasco (Scoby) Carter; two sisters, Eunice McManus and Emily P. Stevens; and her
brother, Eugene Davis.

She is survived by her son, Floyd Carter (Charlotte); her daughter, Tina Graham (Bobby).
grandchildren, Melissa Westbrook (David) and Bradley Graham (Randi); five great-grandchildren,
Sarah Westbrook, Caroline Westbrook, Bradleigh Graham, Rileigh Graham and Knox Graham.
She is also survived by her sister, Norene Hodges (Dewitt) and brother, William M. Davis, Jr. (Diane),
along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Graveside Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist
Church Cemetery, Alma, Georgia with Bishop R.B. Gaskins and Pastor Donnie Mullis officiating.
Bradley Graham, David Westbrook, Tony Mello, Tay Newman, Bruce Carter, and Tim Williams will
serve as pallbearers. Fred Smith, Estes Smith, Jr., Dewight Hodges, Casey Hodges, and Glenn Carter
will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers may be sent to Ten Mile Baptist Church, 148 Ten Mile Church Rd., Alma, Ga 31510 the day of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Georgia Potter’s House for
Women, Inc
