This year for her birthday, Glynn Ellen Skinner Adams joined her family and friends in Heaven. She was born April 25, 1940, and left us on April 25, 2023.
We are heartbroken to lose our beautiful, loving mother but we are glad she is no longer in a body withered from cancer and pain – and we rejoice in the fact that she is with her sweet husband Wendell Adams, who she has missed so much over the past year.
Our tears are for ourselves – as Mom introduced us all to Jesus very early. She not only brought us up in the way of the Lord, but she also lived her faith, and she was a prayer warrior. Together, we saw miracles in this life and God’s hand in many situation – so she did not just teach the book, she shared the faith in her heart, and we know we will hear her comforting voice again.
Glynn Ellen was a Jacksonville native. She attended Andrew Jackson High School where she excelled as an athlete on the track team, winning many trophies and ribbons. She also marched in the school band playing the trumpet. After graduation she attended St. Lukes Radiography Program, she worked throughout her life in the healthcare field as an X-Ray Technician, putting her patients at ease with her calm and reassuring nature.
Our Mom was petite, soft spoken, smart, fun, a bit of a rebel at times and oh so fierce. She loved her family and we felt it, always. She drank sweet tea, called us “Shugar” and thought whatever we did “It would be good”. We knew Mom was always there for us, no matter what we needed. She was quick to give sage advice, but only when asked and she was slow to anger. She loved German Shepards and children, and they immediately loved her back.
Mom instilled her loves, her faith and her special qualities into us, her children, we will try everyday to make her proud.
She was predeceased by her parents Gertrude and David Skinner, brother David Skinner, sister Merle Ficker (Vic), grandson Christopher Alan Dyal, and her dear friend Mary Murphy. She is survived by her children Leslie Dyal (Alan), Darrell Glen Hudson (Beth), Laura Adams, Dr. Deborah Eib (Reuben). Her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Ding”, L. Michele Armenta (Arick), Joshua Hudson (Brittany), Jessica Dyal, Jacob Hudson, Rachel Hudson, Mira Pearl Eib, and Ava Glynn Eib. Four Greatgrandchildren Rhyan Armenta, Thatcher Hudson, Piper Hudson, and Sawyer Hudson. She was very close to her namesake niece Ellen Parrish; they shared many traits and secrets – all the good ones of course. Her daughter’s sister-in-law Glenda Dyal was a good friend through the years and there to help us care for her through her difficult illness.
