Jessie Charles Brown born in Paris, TX on Feb 23rd, 1941 departed this life on Aug 17th, 2022 at the age of 81. His parents, the late Harry Leo Brown and the living Myrble May Brown (102 years old) and his departed brother Jimmy Brown and his living siblings Jan Brown Vinzant, Jeanie Brown Secor and John Brown.
Jessie served his country for over 20 years in the United States Navy. And then as a civil servant for another 20 years. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 at the age of 19 years old. His 1st unit was fighter squadron 143 or VF – 143 the “Puking Dogs” at naval air station Miramar, California.
In September of 1963 while his unit was in the Philippines he met and married Faye Abuan in the Philippines. He left for his Vietnam deployment with VF143 on 5 may 1964 for 6 months on the USS Constellation. He also served on the USS Ranger during his career.
His son Jessie was born in August of 1965, his son Tony was born in October of 1966 and his son Mike was born in June of 1968, all at the Naval Warfare Weapons Station in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
His daughter Charlotte was born in the Philippines in February of 1971 after which he reenlisted in October 1971 and and was transferred to the Electronic Attack Squadron, VAQ135, the “Black Ravens”
The black ravens relocated to naval air station Whitby Island, Washington in 1973, where he stayed with his family until they moved to Naval Air Station, Cecil Field in 1976. It was here in Jacksonville Florida that Jesse retired in 1980.
He then became a government service civilian and worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. Along with raising his four children he also raised 4 more family members Kennylynn, Joseph (Andy), Joasall and Karen whom he would always think of as his children. He and Faye moved to Hinesville, GA where he continued his government service until he retired on continued to reside until the present.
He enjoyed his hobbies of bowling in which he earned many tournament trophies and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He also coached baseball for his sons. His most favorite hobby remained his love and devotion to his wife of 60 years.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00am in Lakeshore Baptist Church, 2365 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210 followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery with US Navy honors. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
