Martina Doris Nevitt

May 20, 1950~July 14, 2022

Martina “Tina” Doris Nevitt (Rasmussen) entered into eternal life with God on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the age of 72. Tina lived a selfless life, full of love for all. Her husband, William “Tom” Nevitt, cherished her and together they taught their children, Michael Nicholas, Juanita Robinson (Nevitt), and Tommy Nevitt, how to love unconditionally, help others without hesitation, and that family is everything.

Tina was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 20, 1950, 5 years before Johannes Rasmussen and Martina Marie Rasmussen (Rivard) moved to Jacksonville, Florida. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic School Riverside through the eighth grade and moved onto Bishop Kenny High School as part of the class of 1968. She worked for the Goodrich Corporation for more than 30 years, starting out at the plant building rubber windows on sonar domes for submarines. Her work ethic and determination paved the way for her to move up within the company and she retired as a Planner/Scheduler.

Tina only wanted to help as many people as she could whether that was through volunteering, donating time or money- if you had an organization that collected water bottle lids, tabs from aluminum cans, or box tops, she would make sure that every single one of those items that crossed her path or any of those around her would be hand delivered to you. She never knew a stranger and treated everyone like family.

She loved her Church. She found Rise Church several years ago and jumped in headfirst with a servants heart. Rise Church expanded her love for Jesus and her community.

Her greatest accomplishment, her legacy, is the family she created and leaves behind – her husband of 51 years, William (Tom) Nevitt, her oldest son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wanda Nicholas, her daughter Juanita Robinson (Nevitt), her youngest son, Tommy Nevitt, her brother and sister-in-law, Johannes (John) and Diane Rasmussen, her 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Tina and Tom’s home was filled with love, laughter, family and friends for the last 2 weeks of her life. Tina passed away surrounded by family in her home in Jacksonville, Florida. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met and she will be desperately missed by all that knew her.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Rise Church on behalf of Tina Nevitt. Checks can be sent to the address below or online at https://rise-church.com/give/.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Rise Church, 8081 Lenox Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32221 from 2:00PM – 5:00PM, Memorial Service begins at 3:00PM

I was sorry to see the passing of Tina. We were best friends in High School. I spent many days at her home through our teen years. She would make sure to say hi to my Mom at Saturday night mass at St Mathew’s Catholic Church. I will remember her in my prayers. Nancy Crooks Larson (‘68)

There are so many amazing qualities to touch on when remembering Ms. Tina: her honesty, her stubbornness, her intense loving and caring nature, her strength, and so much more. All of these were the perfect mixture that made up a very special woman. She might not have agreed with what you did or said (and she made that very known haha), but there was never a doubt that she still loved you fiercely. As an outsider that slowly made her way in over the years, it was so special how much she cared about each individual person in her life and gave them all her time and attention. The memory that stands out the most to me to place during her granddaughter Jordan’s bachelorette party, in Nashville. We were at Coyote Ugly for a good part of one of the nights. During that time I didn’t even notice that Ms. Tina took the time to get to know everyone around us, if not the whole bar. When it was time to leave each person on the way out said “bye Mamaw” and hugged her. The second she walked in the room, her outgoing personality and warm nature drew you in. I hope to stick around for a long, long time to see all these qualities that trickled down from her to the rest of the Nevitt clan. Thank you Jordan for sharing such a truly sincere, funny, awesome person with me!

Tina always had a beautiful smile on her face & a kind word to say about everyone. We’ve been friends for 37 years. During her sickness she was worried about Jerry & asked how he was doing. She will be missed by many but she’s with God now & not suffering any longer. God Bless You, Tina.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We had the privilege of meeting and spending some time with Tina as neighbors of Mike and Wanda in Alabaster. We remember her smile, enthusiasm for meeting everyone and obvious love for her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God give you comfort, strength and peace during this time and in the coming days. Love from David and Stephanie Howard
