OPAL MAE BURGSTINER, 88, Jacksonville, FL
Opal Mae Carrier Burgstiner, 88, of Jacksonville, FL went to her heavenly home at 9:14 pm on Nov. 13, 2021, after an extended illness due to Parkinson’s Disease. She was surrounded by a host of loved ones who catered to her every need to make the transition as loving as possible.
Opal was born in Stanford, KY. on Oct. 26, 1933 to Robert Smith Carrier and Rosa Ellen Benedict Carrier. She had nine siblings: Walter Carrier, preceded, Elizabeth Curtsinger (Raymond Curtsinger, preceded) of Harrodsburg, KY., Helen Marie Hall and Theodore Hall, preceded, Mary Frances Allen and Ben Allen, preceded, Delia Margaret Welch (Ted Welch, preceded), of Louisville, KY., Emma Jean Mcoy (Fred McCoy) of Louisville, KY., Robert Edd Carrier, preceded, Ronald Lee Carrier, preceded, and Donald Ray Carrier (Renee Carrier, preceded) of Shepardsville, KY.
Opal is married to Bruce L. Burgstiner and they reside in Jacksonville, FL. She has two children: Mike (Georgeanna) Clemons and granddaughter Michaela Clemons of Lake Butler, FL. and Joan (Steven) Bosh and grandson Josh Bosh, of Jacksonville, FL. Bruce has three sons: Trea Burgstiner and daughters Miranda, Ella, and Gracie Burgstiner of Richmond Hills, GA., Kevin Burgstiner, Vaughn (Michelle) Burgstiner and daughter and newest addition to the family, Miss Emily Burgstiner of Calhoun, GA.
Before illness prevented her from attending, she was a member of Lake Shore Family Fellowship and loved her church. She was an active member and the first woman president of the West Side Business Leaders Association. She loved to travel and she and Bruce did that extensively. She loved going on the annual weekly trek to the Beach Club where she was an owner for 35 years, and she loved to shop.
Opal loved her family and will be dearly missed by a host of extended family to include her many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Lake Shore Family Fellowship, 2246 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, Thursday, November 18, 2021, receiving friends and family at 10:00 am and service following at 11:00 am.
