Robert D Reed

August 04, 1948~March 23, 2022

Robert Dale Reed, 73, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, March 23, 2022. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 4, 1948. Robert was preceded in death by his father, John Reed, his mother, Sarah Harden, and son-in-law, Darrin Whitaker. He is survived by Annie Reed, the beloved mother of his children; his four daughters, Daina Watts and husband, Louie “Turtle”, Sarah Crews and husband, Troy, Daphne Avedon and husband, Paul, and Ashley Crews and husband, Jonathan; his nine grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Levi, Hunter, Mollie, Lexi, Austin, Ty, Jacob, Brooke, and Noah; and three siblings, Linda McCauley and husband, David, David Reed and wife, Susan, and Patsy Shaffer and husband, Tim; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Robert grew up at the beach and graduated from Andrew Jackson high school. He enlisted in the National Guard Reserves and served honorably for six years. He then joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 673, and began his lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator. He took pride in the skillful work he did as a crane operator and retired after 43 years of service. After retiring, he remained a member of the union and this past January marked his 50th anniversary as a member.
Robert loved the Florida Gators and enjoyed fishing, driving fast cars, working on Ford trucks, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was humble, kind, generous, loyal to a fault, and loved everyone he met. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone with a bigger heart and more beautiful twinkling blue eyes.
Robert previously gave his heart to the Lord and was confident where he would be spending eternity. He had no fear about the future he was facing and had complete peace after receiving his cancer diagnosis. The family is comforted knowing he is now with his Heavenly Father.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 10-11 am, with a memorial service to follow immediately at Marietta Church of God, 8076 Ramona Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32221.
Due to the limited time before the service, please contact a local florist directly to order flowers.
~ 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-14 ~
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
