Robert Lamar Stroble, age 94, passed away on April 22, 2021. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 13, 1927 to the parents of Frazier Thomas and Verna Clark Stroble. He moved to Newberry, Florida as a young boy where he worked on the family farm. He worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve his country during World War II. He served until the war ended and then returned to Florida where he worked for Dr Pepper. When he left Dr Pepper, he moved to Jacksonville where he began working as a food broker for L.T. Acosta. He was the first full time food broker hired by L.T. Acosta, now known as Acosta. He worked for L. T. Acosta for 30 years and took an early retirement so that he could work with his son, John Stroble, at Stroble Maintenance. He worked for Stroble Maintenance for 25 years and retired on his 85th birthday. Upon moving to Jacksonville, Robert attended Beaver Street Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, sang in various groups, led signing in adult Sunday School classes, and served the Lord. It was at Beaver Street Baptist Church that he met and married Nellie Ruth Stroble on June 1, 1968. They were married for 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frazier Thomas and Verna Clark Stroble, his wife, Nellie Ruth Stroble, and his daughter, Susan Kathleen Cornelius. He is survived by his children, Eugene Stroble, Alan Stroble (Kim), Daryl Stroble, Ginnie Jones (Mike), and John Stroble (Kelsey), his grandchildren, Melissa Jackson (Matt), Ryan Jackson (Bianca), Kathleen Stewart (Shawn), Bryan Jackson (Aislinn), Matthew Jones (Tasha), Ashley Jones, Autumn Sellers (Daniel), Alexis Stroble, Madison Mosley (Keith), Brooke Brooker (Jared), Scott, Snyder, Travis Stroble, Justin Stroble (Taylor), Cate Rose Stroble and Dawson Jones, and 14 great grandchildren, Victoria Stroble, Cynthia Stewart, Nellie Stroble, Acelin Jackson, Stella Vlahakis, Jackson Jones, Ava Jackson, Eden Mosley, Willow Jones, Natalie Sellers, Peyton Jones, Lincoln Mosely, Elias Mosely, and Aubree Stroble. Funeral services will be held, Friday, May 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope for Life Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Bray officiating followed by interment in the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Hope for Life Baptist Church.
