Roy Melvin Johnson, age 58, passed away in a tragic accident while traveling to work on February 11,2022 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Roy attended Edward White Highschool in Jacksonville, Florida, and then went on to own his own trucking company, Roy Johnson Trucking. He had a love for his career and enjoyed operating heavy equipment, he prided himself on being able to “run any piece of equipment on the job site”. Roy worked professionally for Archer Western, Earthworks, and most recently was working as a heavy equipment operator for Vallencourt Construction. Roy took great pride in his work; he took joy in making sure his dozer was clean and always pridefully had an American flag waving in the wind.
In his spare time, he was a collector of old cars, specifically 1965 Ford Trucks, in which he loved to tinker with, even named his beloved dog Ford after them. Roy never missed a cookout or a nice meal with a cold beer, he was the first to show up and last to leave. He enjoyed fishing, racing dirt bikes, go-carts, and fixing up remote control cars with his son, he loved to laugh and play belly tickles with his grandkids and enjoyed dinners out with his daughter. Roy was a simple man, he always said he was living the life he dreamed of.
Roy is survived by his loving daughter Danielle Ruben (Johnson) and Joshua Ruben, their children Phoenix and Atlas Ruben, his loving son Dustin Johnson and Skyler Sharp, his brothers Johnny Johnson (Johnny Johnson, Jr., and Michael Johnson), and Howard Johnson (Howard Johnson, Jr., and Jennifer Johnson). He is preceded in death by his parents Maxine and Bobby Johnson, and his brother David Johnson (David Johnson, Jr., Kimberly Johnson, Kaylan Johnson, and Kyle Johnson).
His memorial service and celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 20th, 2022, at 12:00p.m. at Fraser Funeral Home at 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
