Steven Franklin McNeal, age 67, died on Wednesday August 12, 2020. As the Lord carried him into heaven, Steve was greeted by those who had preceded him in death, including his son, Dale F. McNeal, and his parents, Bernard F. McNeal and Verna E. McNeal. Steve graduated from West Nassau High School in Callahan in 1971. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Busines Administration from Jacksonville University in 1996. Steve’s career centered around the transportation/logistics industry where he focused on commercial real estate. After his retirement, Steve worked as a business consultant. Steve was admired and respected by all who worked with him as a man of honor and integrity.
Steve was a loyal, devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fly tying, gardening, fishing, grilling, and spending time with his family. He leaves to mourn his death his best friend and loving wife of 47 years, Mary H. McNeal. Steve also leaves to cherish his memories his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jacob Henry (Levi and Addison Henry) and daughter-in-law, Kendra Combs McNeal (Alyssa, Joshua, Nathan, and Cayden McNeal). Steve was blessed with and enjoyed his large extended family, including: Don and Tracy Hill (Alison Hill [Emma Hill], Paul Darnell, and Matthew Darnell), Marjorie and David Via (Carmen and Tim Burgess [Jacob Burgess, Kyle and Micailah Happe, and Stephen Burgess]), Bill and Darlene Hill (William and Rene Hill [Elijah and Joanna], Walter and Madaline Hill [Demetri, Abel and Evie Hill], Jeff and Rosemary Hazard [Hannah and Hope Hazard], Ed and Roseann Hartwell, and Wesley Hill), John and Alitha Hill (Kayleigh Stephenson [River and Ryker Stephenson], and Taylor Hill, Jason Newman), Mike and Tara Mason, and Pat and Ruthanne Mason (Paul Mason, James Donaldson and Mary Mason [Patrick and Kurtiss Mason], and Ian and Emily Patterson [Elliott Patterson]). He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at St. Vincent’s Riverside, especially Dr. Ewa Wysokinska, Dr. Elizabeth Johnson and Nurse Rachael, the staff of the Ackerman Cancer Center, especially Dr. Paul Ossi, Haley and Sylvia and a special thanks to Community Hospice for their many acts of kindness and support.
The Funeral Services will be on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 1:30 PM at FRASER FUNERAL HOME, 8168 Normandy Boulevard, (904-781-4314), with his nephew, Pastor Timothy Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
